Feeling Lost in Life? When Your Life Doesn’t Follow a Straight Line
There’s an assumption most of us grow up with. That life will move forward in a straight line. That things will make sense. That if we make the “right” choices, everything will fall into place.
But what happens when it doesn’t? When your life feels off track. When things don’t go to plan. When you find yourself somewhere you never expected to be.
Many of the women I work with arrive here.
Feeling lost. Disoriented. Asking themselves: How did I get here?
But what if the problem isn’t you?
What if the problem is the idea that life is supposed to be linear?
Because for many thoughtful, sensitive, capable women—life isn’t linear at all.
It loops.
It pauses.
It changes direction.
It breaks and rebuilds.
And when that happens, it can bring anxiety, burnout and a deep sense of uncertainty.
But it can also open something else.
A different kind of life. One that isn’t based on following a script—but on understanding yourself. This is where therapy becomes something more than “fixing a problem.”
It becomes a space to:
Make sense of what’s happening
Understand your patterns and responses
Reconnect with what actually matters to you
And often, somewhere in that process, something shifts.
The parts of you that once felt like weaknesses… start to reveal themselves differently. This is what I call your Wildcard.
The part of you shaped by your experiences — especially the difficult ones — that holds a different kind of strength. Not the obvious kind. But something deeper. More intuitive. More yours.
If your life doesn’t follow a straight line, you’re not doing it wrong.
You might just be living a less linear life.
